HELPFUL COOKTOP CLEANING HINTS
Made of strong, heat resistant glass, glass-ceramic cooktops should stay looking like new through years of use with proper care.
Daily Care
On cool cooktop, squirt a nickel-sized drop of CERAMA BRYTE Cooktop Cleaner on each burner area. Rub briskly with a dry paper towel or CERAMA BRYTE Cleaning Pad. Follow with another dry paper towel to buff off excess and remove streaks. Do NOT add water, use a sponge or a damp paper towel.
Heavy soil
(Thick as spilled tomato soup)
Use CERAMA BRYTE Scraper to remove heavy soil. Then apply CERAMA BRYTE Cooktop Cleaner as in Daily Care.
Burned-on soil
or residue

(Can pick at with fingernail)
Use CERAMA BRYTE Scraper to remove burned on soil or residue. Then apply CERAMA BRYTE Cooktop Cleaner as in Daily Care.
High sugar content spill
(Canning or fudge)
On a warm cooktop, carefully use (with oven mitt) CERAMA BRYTE Scraper to remove burned on soil or residue. Then apply CERAMA BRYTE Cooktop Cleaner as in Daily Care.
Melted Plastic
(Plastic wraps or spoons)
Same as above for Highly sugar-based spill.
Dark or light stains
(Cannot pick with fingernail)

Using a damp sponge or wet paper towel with CERAMA BRYTE Cooktop Cleaner usually causes these stains. They may also be from using copper bottom or aluminum bottom pans at high heat.

Squirt a nickel-sized drop of CERAMA BRYTE Cooktop Cleaner on burner area. Rub briskly using a dry paper towel or CERAMA BRYTE Cleaning Pads. If the staining is from copper or aluminum bottom pans, some staining will remain. It is best not to try more abrasive materials on that stain, as they will scratch the cooktop. These stains will be removed over time as you continue to use the burner area and regularly clean. Suggestion: If you use copper bottom pans (not recommended), clean bottom before each use.

Water or Pasta
Water Spots
Same as above for Dark or light stains.
CERAMA BRYTE Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner is designed for use on ALL glass-ceramic cooktops. It is tested and qualified for CERAN® by SCHOTT GLAS and is recommended by EuroKera. It is non-toxic and biodegradable.

Cooktop Cleaning

Use and Care Instructions for Glass-Ceramic Cooktops

Glass-ceramic cooktops are made of very strong, heat resistant glass.  With proper care, they should stay looking good through years of use.  Make sure you always read the glass-ceramic manufacturers' instructions first for full details of care and maintenance.

Clean the glass surface with CERAMA BRYTE ceramic cooktop cleaner before you use the cooktop for the first time. Also, clean the glass surface after each use. This helps protect the top and makes clean-up easier

Daily Care

To maintain properly, it is important to clean your cooktop after every use.

Prior to cleaning, make sure all burners are turned off. Allow to cool.

Light spills can be cleaned with a CERAMA BRYTE cleaning pad or paper towel (or clean damp cloth) and CERAMA BRYTE cleaner.

Apply a small amount of CERAMA BRYTE directly to the cooktop.  Rub gently.  Dry surface with soft cloth or paper towel.

For burned-on spills, use the CERAMA BRYTE SCRAPER, following the instructions on the back of the scraper envelope or see below:

  • Carefully scrape off soil with razor scraper. Hold scraper at a 30 to 45 degree angle against the glass cooktop.
  • After all soil has been removed, clean the entire surface with CERAMA BRYTE.
  • Buff with a dry paper towel.
What can harm the cooktop?
  • Dish towels and sponges used for other purposes may pick up debris and cause scratches.
  • Steel wool and other abrasives will scratch the surface.
  • Silicone ‘protectants’ or cleaners with silicones should not be used on glass-ceramic cooktops.
  • Using the surface as a cutting board may cause damage.
  • Sliding cookware across the cooktop can cause scratches.
  • Window cleaners may leave an iridescent film.

More Helpful Hints

  • Make sure bottoms of cookware are always clean and dry.
  • Wipe off cooktop surface with a clean damp cloth or paper towel prior to each use.
  • Use correct heat settings and cookware large enough to hold food and liquid to avoid boiling over and food splattering.
  • When frying, use a spatter guard to diminish spattering.
  • When a bad spillover happens while cooking, spills may be cleaned from the cooktop while it is warm to reduce a difficult cleaning job later.  Wipe with a clean damp cloth.  Use extreme caution to avoid burns from steam or touching the hot cooktop.
  • Do not use soap pads containing metal fibers such as steel wool or S.O.S pads, oven cleaning compounds, rust stain removers, abrasive cleansers or other cleaners not specifically recommended for use on glass-ceramic.

Special Care

Be sure to use a new sharp razor scraper. Do not use a dull or nickel blade. Sugary spillovers (such as jellies, fudge, candy syrups) or melted plastics can cause pitting of the surface of your cooktop ( not covered by the warranty) unless the spill is removed while still hot. Special care should be taken when removing hot substances.
  1. Turn off all surface units affected by the spillover. Remove hot pans.
  2. Wearing an oven mitt, hold the razor scraper at a 30 to 45 degree angle to the cooktop. Scrape the hot spill to a cool area outside the surface unit.
  3. With the spill in a cool area, use a dry paper towel to remove any excess. Any spillover remaining should be left until the surface of the cooktop has cooled. Do not continue to use the soiled surface unit until all of the spillover has been removed. Follow the steps under burned-on-spill to continue the cleaning process.
Note: If pots with a thin overlay of aluminum, copper or enamel are allowed to boil dry, the overlay may bond with the glass cooktop and leave a black discoloration. This should be removed immediately before heating again or the discoloration may be permanent. To clean the cooktop seal, let a wet cloth rest on it for a few minutes, then wipe clean. Use a mild detergent if needed. Do not use a knife or any sharp object on the seal because it will cut or damage it. For Questions or Comments call toll free 1-800-578-HOME
